"Loved it!"

“We stayed here for one night on our way from Cradle Mountain to Hobart. We absolutely loved everything about it. We had the Raspberry Cottage and it was the most adorable cottage and super roomy!

The onsite orchard and veggie patch was fabulous, and the walk along the creek was lovely. We did not want to leave!”

"Pure Tasmania"

“This place is beautiful and must be the cleanest freshest place in Australia. The air is fresh and unpolluted, the water comes from the Mt Field National Park and the whole place is natural and organic. The little cottages have pure latex mattresses and organic bedding and are furnished with natural fabrics and chemical-free paints.

You can gather freshly laid eggs and pick from the organic vegetable garden and orchard. A unique gem!”

"What a magical place"

“We booked for one night to break up the drive from Strahan to Hobart and were amazing at how magical this place was. Our girls aged 9 and 5 loved exploring the different huts around the grounds, full of toys and art supplies (they have left some creations in the art hut!) as well as harvesting silver beet to accompany our dinner.

We wish we had more time to walk around the grounds and one of the many walking trails and would love to return in summer to be able to use the bbq and outdoor stove. The views were stunning both during the day and at night when the stars were out. Coming from the UK we were able to see a slightly different perspective of the stars and have never seen the constellations as prominently as we did here. This place is so special and a must for anyone wanting to get away from it all in Tasmania!”

"Lovely surprise"

“We stayed at Sassafras Springs for 1 night, as a stopover on our drive from Hobart to Cradle Mountain. But it turned out to be so lovely that we wished we had more than 1 night. My teenage daughters loved picking the fruits and vegetables from the garden as well as interacting with the hens, who were very friendly!

We also loved to play in the open space, with the variety of sports equipment laid out, including a trampoline. We stayed at the Old Farmhouse, which was very spacious, quaint and yet fitted out with modern conveniences which made for a comfortable stay. Highly recommend.”

"Fabulous for families"

“Didn’t know what to expect as we booked some last minute accommodation off the main road.

What a beautiful surprise for us and our 9 year old daughter. A gorgeous cottage with oodles of play area, a veggie garden to source our dinner from and a magical walk through the ferny creek track.

What a shame we live in another state!”

"Peace and quiet in the wilderness"

“A lovely quaint lodging in the neck of the woods. The place has been very well designed and is so relaxing.

The property has several cabins – we stayed in the 4 person cabin 2 adults and 2 children. Very good value for money mind you!

If you are after a good nights sleep, this is the place for you. The beds were firm and it gave my family and I the needed rest.

If you like organic vegetables, you’re in for a delight when you visit the vegetable patch. Pick and choose freshly grown vegetables to go with your meals.

There’s an ac powered stove, fridge, tap water, bathroom, shower, toilet, and a potbelly heater. We enjoyed making a wood log fire in the evening to keep us warm in the evening. We stared at the fire for ages watching it burn – was so mesmerising.

We had access to millions of stars for your gazing at night time right outside your cabin

If you’re after a few short walks, the property has some, these are all included in the visitors instruction manuals on the table of your cabin. There’s even a Tasmanian Tiger trail for to keep the kiddies entertained.

I would highly recommend it to anyone whether it be couples or families. It’s really worth your time and I would definitely come back again”

"Loved it!"

“We had the Hop Pickers and Pearls and loved them both. We knew it was going to be rustic so it was exactly as we expected. Very peaceful and beautiful.

We shopped at the general store in Ellendale but found it had little choice.”

"Amazing"

“We stayed in the old farm house. It was my kids dream come true. They loved the playground, the art room, the story cottage and treasure island. The cottage itself was furnished beautifully with so many lovely touches.

Sitting in front of the huge fire and looking at the view is something I will never forget. Was so impressed with everything at Sassafras cottages. We can’t wait to come back”

"Magical country retreat"

“We rented the Old Farmhouse for four of us and arrived to beautiful views over the countryside from the hilltop setting.

Our special treat was being invited to help ourselves from the guest fruit and vegetable garden. We enjoyed snow peas, zucchini, broad beans, beetroot, raspberries, rhubarb and blueberries and also collected three fresh eggs from the henhouse.

Utterly quiet other than rural activities and an abundance of wildlife.

A place to contemplate and regenerate.”
